For the holiday from home feel, look no further than the Areca Palm. This lush plant resembles a palm tree and its tropical vibes create your own little slice of paradise. It is also praised for its air-purifying qualities, and can bring relief to dry skin – talk about a multi-tasker!
Native to the Madagascan tropics, this plant is sometimes referred to as the Golden Feather Palm or Butterfly Palm. Sadly, it was once considered endangered due to the loss of its natural habitat.
If you can, use rain water when hydrating this plant, as it doesn’t like the chemicals typically found in tap water. As for repotting, do this every two to three years – the Areca Palm likes to be cosy in a tight container.

If you notice the leaves turning brown, this could be an indicator of cold drafts or the air being too dry. Try moving to a warmer spot or give it a mist to add some humidity.
